Missionary Training Course

In 2004 a missions course was initiated for those wishing to pursue training for cross-cultural ministries within Australia or overseas. The course is also open to serving missionaries on home assignment who may wish to renew their training qualifications. The full course is three-years full-time leading to a Bachelor of Ministries in Missions. Each unit of the course is semesterised so that candidates can take each unit separately part-time.

The course was put together after consultation with a number of serving missionaries who were asked to reflect critically on their own training and field experience. The course is strong on the basics of Bible knowledge and theology, particularly in the first year. The second year is a mixture of biblical and theological studies together with distinctively missionary courses. The final year concentrates on missionary courses, requires a major missiological research topic and may include a field visit overseas for a number of weeks through an appropriate missions agency.

Beginning in 2005 Dr Felix Chung has been appointed as Co-ordinator of the Asian Program and lecturer in Missiology.

Lectures on the "History of Christian Missions" and the "Theology of Missions" delivered by Dr Bryan Hardman in semester 1, 2004, are available on videotape in the library.
