Graduate Diploma of Christian Studies - GradDipChrStuds
The GradDipChrStuds is a one year (32 cps) integrative award designed to provide students with foundational theological knowledge together with integrative theological reflection with particular occupational and/or life interests. It is not normally the track into full-time Christian ministry. It is designed so that graduates of the course will normally continue in their chosen professions but will have the understanding and skills to integrate these with their Christian perspective and commitment. Entrance requirements: Open to persons already graduates of an Australian university in a non-theological discipline.
GradDipChrStuds students choose:
4 subjects (16 cps) from the foundational 500 level
3 subjects (12 cps) from the 600 level
1 subject (4 cps) from the field of Integrative Studies
Currently PTC is planning to offer 2 integrative subjects – one in the area of Bioethics.
The GradDipChrStuds forms a first year of the 2 year MA(ChrStud) program, an ACT award not offered at the PTC as yet.
Master of Arts in Theology - MA(Theology)
The MA(Th) is designed to provide graduates in theology, including those who are practioners in ministry, the opportunity to undertake study at coursework masters level, thus consolidating and enhancing areas of speciality, or proceeding to new areas of professional and vocational expertise on the foundation of their first degree in theology. Entrance requirements: Open to persons who hold the ACT’s BTh or those who hold a BTh/ BMin from a recognised provider considered equivalent to the ACT’s BTh/ BMin.
The award can be taken over a maximum of 6 years for part-time students. All subjects are offered in weekly attendance mode or in intensive courses of 1 weeks duration. A typical award might consist of 6 individual subjects (8 credit points each) and a final research project (16 credit points).
The highlight of the MA programme is the Intensive subjects, run over a week in semester two. These are taught by guest scholars, often from overseas. For more information, and details of this year's Intensive, see MA Intensives.
A semester length unit is usually offered in first semester.
