Unit Information
Welcome to Introduction to Research Methods -
an online unit developed for the Presbyterian Theological
College of Victoria.. To assist you in studying this
unit, a number of links are provided in the header of each
web page. The 'Schedule' link provides the best overview of
the structure and direct access to each module (see below
for as description of each of the modules). The 'Assessment'
link provides a summary of all assessment tasks and their
due dates.
Learning outcomes
This Unit is concerned with developing your practical
research skills. At the successful completion of this Unit
you should be able to:
- Decide on the focus of your research
- Frame your research questions or theme
- Select a broad research strategy appropriate to your
project
- Develop a suitable research design, including methodology,
data collection and analysis, ethics considerations and
reporting
- Write your research proposal.
Time investment
You will need to commit approximately 120 hours to working
on this Unit. This includes the time that you will need to
spend
- online - reading, completing activities and visiting websites
- offline - completing activities and thinking.
